Akita Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Meet Bella. She is the best combination of the boxer and akita breeds. She is 1.5 years old and very happy-go-lucky. Bella is very friendly to adults and children. Because she is a bit bouncy, Bella would do best with children 3 and up. Bella has a lot of energy and is an Olympic-level athlete; she can jump a 6-foot fence. She loves to play with toys, tug on rope toys, and play fetch. Bella has had basic training with a trainer. She knows: sit, down, stand, fetch, give kisses, and more. Bella would do well with a canine playmate. She needs slow introductions and then will be fine. She would also like to be a jogging buddy and to be part of ... (Read More)an active family. Bella is up-to-date on shots, microchipped, and spayed. She is housebroken and crated. It is better for everyone if Bella is crated when not supervised. If she is bored she will find something to entertain herself. She is , however, trustworthy to not be crated at night. If you would like to meet Bella or if you have any questions, please send us an email to and request an adoption application or visit us online at and fill out an application online. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 15-03-31-00215Lucy (female)

Akita Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Meet Lucy. What a pretty girl she is! She was found as a stray in Warren County, but when the owners were found they surrendered her to the care of the animal control officer. While that is sad, the good news is that we know quite a bit more about her than a typical stray. First of all, we know that Lucy is a happy, friendly, laid-back girl. She gets rave reviews from the ACO who has her now. She gets along great with other dogs and shows no interest in cats. She is great with people of all ages. Lucy is housebroken and crate trained. She is also spayed. We will bring her up-to-date on shots (they are just recently out-of-date) and get her ... (Read More)microchipped as soon as we can get her placed. Lucy weighs about 50 pounds and is a mixed breed girl, maybe Akita mix? If you would like to offer Lucy a foster or forever home, she would greatly appreciate it. Please send us an email to and request an application or please visit our website at and fill one out. Once we receive it, we will review it and be in touch! (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 15-03-11-00085Duke (male)

Akita Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Female Dogs Only, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Neutered

Duke is 5-6 years old very loving and calm. He is missing his front teeth, upper and lower. He lost them when he was a puppy. He loves people, cats and small animals. Very young children 4 and under make him nervous. He loves to play but also loves to be lazy. Duke does a few tricks such as sit, shake, lay down and will wait to eat a treat until he has permission. Recently he has been learning to say I love you. Duke loves to be petted, scratched and if you spank him above his tail he will go weak in the knees, that is his favorite thing!

PIease Read Before Adopting an Akita in Indiana
Akita Dogs can make good pets in Indiana if they match your IifestyIe. The Akita Inu, or Japanese Akita, is a large Spitz-type breed of dog. Akitas are intelligent, companionable animals and make excellent guard dogs. Akitas are willful and need firm training. Akitas are protective of children in their own families, but may be aggressive toward outsiders and should be supervised with small kids. Akitas may bite if provoked; they need to be treated with gentleness and respect. Akitas can live in an apartment but do need sufficient exercise; they do best with a large yard.
