Good dog, no time to spend with it and too rough for my smallest son. Need a good and loving home for a really good dog.

|Rescue Me ID: 15-09-15-00714Jake (male)|
Jake is a 19 month old chocolate lab with 1/8 Akita. Sheds very little. He was recently rescued from an abusive home where he was abandoned outside on a log chain. He now has a clean bill of health, had all vaccines, and has been neutered. I am looking for a forever home for him. He has some separation anxiety and hates it when his humans leave him. I work 12+ hours a day and in his kennel. When he is out with my 6 month old lab they play well, but if the humans are around he dominates her and doesn't like her to get any attention. He will jump on his human and even pull on your sleeve to get you only pay attention to him. However, when he is the only one out of the kennel he is as calm as could be. Ideally he would be the only dog in the home. I will not be able to keep him much longer so if he doesn't find a home by 10/14 he will go the the shelter. (Less)

Akita Dogs can make good pets in Missouri if they match your IifestyIe. The Akita Inu, or Japanese Akita, is a large Spitz-type breed of dog. Akitas are intelligent, companionable animals and make excellent guard dogs. Akitas are willful and need firm training. Akitas are protective of children in their own families, but may be aggressive toward outsiders and should be supervised with small kids. Akitas may bite if provoked; they need to be treated with gentleness and respect. Akitas can live in an apartment but do need sufficient exercise; they do best with a large yard.
