We adopted Burger actually from this site. We are looking for him a new home because his attitude is not so too with my female dogs. We have tons of toys, antlers and water buffalo horns. Let's just say he is not into sharing. He is potty trained but will use a pad if one is down. He I'll not ever hike as he was neutered at a very young age. My sons taught him sit, stay, shake and still work with him. He also has a crazy Mohawk when he does not like something. I am just bot comfortable with him picking fights with the girls. I'm a 100% purebred Japanese Akita, however, my Mom didn't have her AKC registration in time so I don't have my papers. I turned six years old in September and was neutered when I was a puppy. I live in a wonderful home with my buddy who is a cat and we get along great. I let him drink from my water bowl and when he's not looking - sometimes I eat his food which gets me in trouble. I've been raised with kids in the house and their friends love me too. I just hate having my face grabbed and hugged but will tolerate it - even if I give a little growl (which gets me trouble). I live by Lake Lewisville and have a wonderful yard that I can ... (Read More)run and play in and protect. The 'protect' part of me is why I'm on this site. I have killed multiple possums because they are in MY yard. This hasn't really been a problem though. The problem is that any other dog that runs by MY yard or MY house is in MY space and I need to make sure they stay away from MY space - MY house - MY family. I've bit a few of them to let them know and this has gotten me in big trouble. I love my family and MY house but I need a place where I don't have to worry about protecting everything - it's a tough job and just, well, not social. I've gone to a Dog loft one weekend and had a blast playing with the other dogs and didn't feel like biting anyone - we had a blast. I just don't like any other animals being by MY house or MY yard. I love car rides and recently found out I love to ride in a boat. My owners want me to be loved and I can give a ton of love in return. Akita Dogs can make good pets in Texas if they match your IifestyIe. The Akita Inu, or Japanese Akita, is a large Spitz-type breed of dog. Akitas are intelligent, companionable animals and make excellent guard dogs. Akitas are willful and need firm training. Akitas are protective of children in their own families, but may be aggressive toward outsiders and should be supervised with small kids. Akitas may bite if provoked; they need to be treated with gentleness and respect. Akitas can live in an apartment but do need sufficient exercise; they do best with a large yard.
