Chlobear is an amazing Akita that I rescued from her vet where she was abandoned due to housing issue with the previous owner. She lived and was kenneled at the vet for roughly 5 months before we brought her home. She is such asweet girl, but my sons alergys can no longer tak her dander anymore. She lives inside, and is completly house trained. She loves rawhydes and toys. She is so wonderful with my children and we are so so very sad to see her go, but I want her to go to a loving home, just like what she will be coming from. Her birthday is next month and she will be 3 years old. Her coat is beautiful, just like her personality. She ... (Read More)listens well, knows a few fun commands like shake and such. She likes to cuddle but her favorite thing it to be sctatched and rubbed on. She like to run too. She is chipped and is current with all of her shots. She was spayed while she was staying at the vet. She has no medical conditions known and is basically a perfect dog. We just cant have her any longer. Thank you for your interest in her. (Less)

Sydney has been rescued from a high kill shelter by No Bully's Left Behind, and is being fostered by Pied Piper's Fostering. She is an extremely human friendly dog, but might get too excited for children. She knows basic commands, and is house and leash trained. She prefers to have all the love and attention for herself, so would do best in a one pet home. She also likes to run and play, so would enjoy having a home with a yard. Sydney is very obedient, and doesn't have any undesirable behaviors:) She's a great dog, that will make the best companion any human could ask for!

Rescue Me ID: 16-01-28-00162Spade (female)

Akita Mix    Age: Young Adult

AC6-Spade is a female mix breed. This sweet girl is a great companion and I know she will be one of those 'one of a kind' dogs. She is very content walking with you, laying by your feet, letting you pet her belly and is just a perfect companion. This girl deserves a home to love her as much as she will give love back. If not claimed, she will be up for adoption and someone should snag her quickly! Dogs are $75 to adopt which includes their spay/neuter and a rabies vaccination at our local vet. Akita Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Low Energy, Submissive
Health: Spayed

PRETTY GIRL Okay you may be wondering why I named her Pretty Girl. Well when I got her she was a much smaller, younger puppy and just the prettiest thing to hold in my arms. I always wonder why the best dogs are often overlooked. Pretty Girl has been with me a while, maybe her pictures do not do her justice, she is pretty but her soul and spirit is beautiful. The vet thinks she is possibly Akita/Shepherd blend, 3 years old and weighs 55 pounds. She has reached her adult height and weight. Pretty Girl will probably lose some weight once she goes to a family who will walk her, she has just been laying around her putting on the ... (Read More)pounds!!! But she is a happy girl. She's super well behaved with a lovely gentle temperament. Pretty Girl has seen her share of other fosters come and go and she greets them with kisses, treats them with kindness and makes their first few days very comfortable. She is great with all dogs, a bit curious about cats but she doesn't chase them or bother them, she just cannot figure out what they are and why they will not play with her! Of course she is housetrained, crate trained, potty trained and walks well on a leash, she doesn't pull, she walks at a normal pace right beside you. If Pretty Girl caught your eye at all then I promise she is worth a meet & greet so you can see what a great dog she is. Along with being super smart, obedient, she is stoic in personality, but loving and affectionate too. Maybe Pretty Girl is just waiting for the perfect match in a family or companion -- could that be you? You can view more pictures on our website or Facebook page: SCURVY DOG RESCUE.     My name is Herman, I am an Akita/mix, one of my ears is up and the other one flops, I am silly and goofy and don`t really have manners yet, but we are working on it. I love to lick everybody and get very excited. I am good with other dogs through the fence, but I am lacking social skills and with all the excitement I kinda get in trouble. If somebody could really teach me how to behave, I will be the best boy ever. I have some nasty heartworms, but I am on slow kill and those nasty things will be gone soon! I`d love to meet you soon

PIease Read Before Adopting an Akita in Texas
Akita Dogs can make good pets in Texas if they match your IifestyIe. The Akita Inu, or Japanese Akita, is a large Spitz-type breed of dog. Akitas are intelligent, companionable animals and make excellent guard dogs. Akitas are willful and need firm training. Akitas are protective of children in their own families, but may be aggressive toward outsiders and should be supervised with small kids. Akitas may bite if provoked; they need to be treated with gentleness and respect. Akitas can live in an apartment but do need sufficient exercise; they do best with a large yard.

The Akita originates from the mountainous regions of northern Japan, The Akita dates back centuries and its origin is an island called Honshu in the Akita region of Japan. Akitas can pull sleds and hunt in deep snow. Akitas symbolize health and small figurines of the dog are sent to people in the hospital in Japan. Helen Keller owned the first U.S. Akita.
