He is an energetic seven year old Boxer mix. He is my absolute world and its breaking my heart to have to part from him, but I have tried any and all methods to keep him at my apartment. He works best with a couple or single person living alone without other pets. He ... (Read More)is happiest as an only pet and tends to view his owner as 'you're my person' and 'I'm your person.' Boomer is up to date on all his shots and is neutered. He eats Pure Balance - Lamb Rice dog food from Walmart. I take him to doggie day camps and his vet visits to Grace Park Animal Hospital. He loves it there and they love him! He comes with a collar, leash, toys, food/water bowl (two sets) and his favorite blanket. If he is not adopted today or this weekend, he will have to go to a kill shelter. They will kill him after three days after adoption. Please save my dog! (Less)

Akita    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults

Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Koda is a sioux word for 'friend or companion' and it suits this pup perfectly. We adopted this sweet boy from a lady who rescued him from a bad home in hopes that we could get him use to our older kitty, but the two cannot seem to get a long and both deserve to live in peace. He is INCREDIBLY sweet and snuggly and gets along perfectly fine with kids and other dogs. He is fairly high energy but loves to snuggle in his bed for naps throughout the day. He is currently shaved in this pic and has some weight still to gain, but from what we are told his is a pure blood brindle akita. He is estimated to be 8-10 months. He is already ...     Hello my name is Smitty and I was pulled from a shelter on my last day at a kill shelter. I was brought into my rescue and was vetted and found out that I was heart worm positive. Since then, I have been through heart worm treatments and have retested HW NEGATIVE!! I am ready for immediate adoption. My foster mom says I am a very good boy and just the sweetest. I get along just fine with my doggie brothers and I love people and kids. I also love my toys and like to be outdoors to run and play so I really need a home with a fence so I can play and play. Im kinda getting worried since so many dogs in my rescue has been adopted and I'm still ... (Read More)left. I don't know why nobody wants me or doesn't even want to do a meet and greet with me. I promise to be a good boy if you can give me my forever home where I will always be safe and cared for like I should be. I never want to worry about food, where I will sleep, being left alone and forgotten etc. I have lots of love to give if you will just let me show you. Love, Smitty (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting an Akita in North Carolina
Akita Dogs can make good pets in North Carolina if they match your IifestyIe. The Akita Inu, or Japanese Akita, is a large Spitz-type breed of dog. Akitas are intelligent, companionable animals and make excellent guard dogs. Akitas are willful and need firm training. Akitas are protective of children in their own families, but may be aggressive toward outsiders and should be supervised with small kids. Akitas may bite if provoked; they need to be treated with gentleness and respect. Akitas can live in an apartment but do need sufficient exercise; they do best with a large yard.
